Maybe if the government could help the American people have babies instead of doing the complete opposite.

They told us to quit having babies if we can't afford them. We listened.

“Do you know how badly you have to treat a mammal for them not to reproduce”

Maybe if life was remotely affordable people would have children. Crazy concept

Wasn't overpopulation supposed to be a problem? What happened to that?

I’m literally a full time engineer in my mid 20’s, my hobbies are video games and running. Zero “going out” or luxurious expenses, live in a small home with an hour commute, and even then I cant solely provide for a full family

Doesn’t take a genius to know it’s due to high costs of living. People can barely afford to take care of themselves. Also extremely one sided laws don’t help.

Wife and I had one kid. Trying for our second has become a bit harder so we went to the doc for testing because she originally needed to take a hormone to get pregnant. One month later the testing wasn’t covered because our insurance changed and no longer covers fertility treatment. 2k bill later. Testing was a blood test and following up on c section healing to make sure she healed properly. Genuinely baffles me why government officials cry about birth rate but then do nothing to make it easier for people who want kids. Glad I got $200 more in tax returns because of our daughter - truly life changing money.

I can barely afford to provide for myself. Why would I bring a life into this world that I’d have to provide for?

Immigration doesn't fix birth rates. You need to fix the issue of why people aren't having children. It's almost always economic factors. People want a decent job and a decent home before they have multiple children. People want to believe they are going to raise children in a benevolent world not under a government that uses and abuses us.

The real truth is that people are having a hard time finding a partner with similar goals and an even harder time knowing how to budget and sacrifice.

The people trying to convince everyone you need immigration to keep population normal, are the exact same people that have been propagandizing every generation about how terrible kids are, how disgusting and evil kids are, and how they can't afford them. "Stop having kids!" "Omg people aren't having kids, here is a conveniently allocated solution that just so happens to massively benefit us!"

I’d have children if I can afford them. The USA has dismantled the economy to the point where people aren’t having kids because of affordability, not because they simply don’t want kids.

The issue is multifaceted. For me I think the big three off the top of my head is economic distress, societal behavioral collapse and failing governmental structures. When theres a general distrust for the opposite sex, lack of confidence in the stability of your environment and inability to thrive off standard wages. Then it makes sense that no one is reproducing

I don’t think we currently need immigration we need to make housing affordable again so that people can have homes and feel safe enough to have children. Why would I have more kids when rent is more than a mortgage on a 3 bedroom house, gas costs more than double what it used to, food cost is increasing rapidly, the cost of electric and gas have gone up, it’s just not rational to have more children especially when daycare is $300 a week, and at that point someone else is raising your children just for both parents to work full time to barely make ends meet. It’s not that Americans don’t want children it’s that we can’t afford basic groceries

nobody who is sane in any country ever was against an immigrant who has no criminal records, knows about his own culture yet is also willing to learn about your country's culture and adapt, realises this is a country your ancestors fought for and is NOT a slave who lets himself get crushed but is also grateful for the opportunities provided to them(not the same thing) and also has a skill that contributes to the country. I am Turkish, I would love to move to germany and be a german citizen. But if I am going to go to germany, live in a turkish neighborhood, not even learn proper german, never talk to germans, collect welfare pay etc then I should NOT be accepted. If you go somewhere you HAVE to adapt.
