[Edited] [EN / JP / KR] I added the AI tags to this video myself. This is because the background from 0:15 to 0:32 was generated using Blender and ChatGPT. For now, I plan to incorporate AI into my videos little by little. However, I will disclose where it was used and which AI was used, and I will avoid generating content that closely resembles the art style of any specific artist. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ + After uploading this music video, I’ve had a lot of time to reflect. The reason I mentioned using AI was that I created most of the video myself, and my intention was to use it to fill in the gaps where I’m lacking—even if just a little—to make the video as perfect as possible (since I’m not very good at drawing backgrounds). However, after uploading “Displayholic” and seeing the diverse opinions of others, I began to reflect. Ultimately, while using AI as an aid might improve the quality, I realized I couldn’t confidently answer “yes” to the question, “Can I proudly call this my own work?” Ultimately, I realized that what matters most is moving the hearts of those who watch the music video (because no matter how high the quality, it’s pointless if viewers can’t immerse themselves in it), and I was reminded once again that, even though we’ve entered the AI era, generative AI still collects data through unethical methods. With this music video, “Displayholic,” as my final project, I will no longer use generative AI—such as image or video generation—in my music videos. I will return as a better Vocaloid producer.

I like how Miku here is represented as a "jellyfish". Miku, whenever she enters the virtual world, she seems to be trying to reach the surface. When she succeeds in the end, shes dead. Jellyfish, once they're out of the water, they suffocate and die instantly. Miku succeeded in being famous, at the cost of her own life. This made me notice how we try to reach for things we sometimes just cannot reach,(like permanent satisfaction) and how far would someone push themselves despite the toll they're getting, to reach it, even if it means hurting yourself in the process due to desperation. And another thing I noticed, is before the chorus, there's a jellyfish leaving a jar. Made me think that the jellyfish wanted to be set free, unaware of the price it had to pay for it. Meanwhile on the second verse, we can see Miku's heart rate, but it's oddly connected to the jellyfish. It seems like as if the Jellyfish is stinging her heart, symbolizing the fact her addiction was starting to sting her wellbeing as she kept hiding behind her avatar and dive into the virtual world. Also, Jellyfish as in personality, are described as people who don't put healthy boundaries and absorb the pressure instead.

Jellyfish are very interesting creatures for this concept. Their lives can technically go on forever as long as they can keep being reborn. A human being lives only once, but someone’s online presence keeps living long after they’re gone.

12k people just watched her die of heart failure online. This would've been a serious uproar at the time. I wonder how it would've seemed for the moment. Depending on the rig, her avatar could've been stuck with those arms outspread while people heard her collapse through audio. I guess the jelly did break free.

For anyone wondering, myocardial infarction and cardiac arrhythmia are both heart diseases. Basically she was so addicted to the high of being virtually popular it was enough to induce a heart attack.

The fact that this is also a real-life problem for people who just wanna be popular with a virtual avatar. For people who don't know: cardiac arrhythmia & myocardial infarction are kinds of heart attacks, caused by consuming too much energy drinks in the middle of the night multiple times or being exposed to a very bright colored content at night, and it clearly shows that she's doing it so much in a very dark room that Miku's eyes had become bloodshot for staring at a very bright screen. Miku knew that that exposure was eating her alive but she couldn't hold herself back which caused her death mid-stream.

The fact that so many people have crashed out over a slight bit of disclosed AI use in the MV (Like 2% of the total video) is just gonna encourage more people to hide or not disclose their AI use in the future. I strongly dislike AI too, but the song is 100% manmade and so is the MV aside from a single stock background, and ABM disclosed that small AI use, which was the most honest way to handle it. This "All or nothing" attitude is only going to further alienate people and encourage non-disclosure of AI use, as it genuinely feels like ABM would've gotten less friction just NOT disclosing the AI use.

Did anyone notice that: While her virtual self went OUT of the water in the end- Her real self had a heart attack. Almost like she “drowned” (Also the little dancing miku is peak)

the ending of this song gets so much more disturbing the longer you think about it.. not only did she die of a heart attack live on stream, her avatar frozen in its default rig while the viewers just hear a loud thunk, but the stream itself probably stayed on for a long while with her just dead on the floor if she lived alone. one can only hope that someone that knew her personally was in chat at the time for someone to get to her, even if it's already too late

I'd like to think that in the end, the other persona/jellyfish Miku coming out of a water is a sign that the Miku behind the screen was gonna die. Jellyfish can't survive outside of the water

0:40 Miku being a jellyfish is cool detail considering like how jellyfish trying to escape water kind of like her online world trying to become the top on the internet platform ^^

To anyone wondering why it's labeled AI it's because if you read the description it says that the room background design was generated by chatgpt but blender was also used! hope it helps :D Edit: Said by one person in the replies, that it actually blender was being controlled by an AI sorry for the mistake I am not a blender expert just an average person

I love how instead of her avatar going through idle mode when she died of heart attack, instead, she said, "I still want to live, atleast for now", and her avatar still keeps moving, like her soul is still inside the video game

Notice how the first time miku goes into her vtuber avatar or whatever, she actually reaches for it, like she wants to explore. But the second time, it comes TO her, and she looks tired or fed up, like she doesn’t want to have a life like this and she regrets it, but she can’t stop because her fanbase and the algorithm are forcing her to keep pushing through.

I'm seeing a lot of very good observations about this music video, but I haven't seen anyone mention the line "Like a fiercely determined monster" with a very clear Undertale reference. Because, if you've played the True Pacifist route before, you know that monsters with too much determination LITERALLY MELT, and that could be analogous to the way Miku is neglecting the HELL out of her health.

I do find it interesting that it was after the jellyfish has exited the water that the person died, like they had suffocated from the presence of media I also like the high colour contrast and how the chorus speeds up when the Jellyfish Miku is flying, it gave off that overwhelming feeling of things happening too quickly, gaining followers too fast Those are my interpretations
