This was before the "Joey loves Rachel" plot. He was more than willing to change his Bachelor lifestyle to make it comfortable for his pregnant friend. Ross wasn't even willing to give up dating on his own when he wanted to be more involved, Rachel gave up her space and had to be the bad guy by asking him to focus on her and their baby.
