my interpretation: the switching of dance partners represents going through relationships with different people and finding beauty in all of them despite them being short and not lasting. all the people in the dance hall seemed to be in search of different kinds of love and affection; some already knew who they wanted but were pushing it down by being with someone else, some were searching for rebounds after failed relationships, some were in bad times and wanted care and attention, etc etc. it just shows how much a love that doesn’t seem very grand can have such a beautiful effect on people’s lives

The idea of meeting lots of people to dance with for a moment but not finding the one to dance with your whole life.

If you think Harry is dropping a normal, cute romantic video today, you must be new here. Fully expecting a lore-heavy fever dream that leaves us all questioning reality. 🌹🌀

Ironically enough it’s my wife’s birthday today and this is coming out. What she doesn’t know yet is that I got her tickets to see harry. UPDATE: For everyone asking what happened! When my wife got home with our kids and her mom, I put the video on and we all watched it together. After the video ended, I asked her what the “weird comment” was and had her read the comment I originally posted. As soon as she finished reading it, I immediately showed her the tickets to see Harry. She started crying happy tears and gave me the biggest hug. ❤️😭 Safe to say the surprise was a success! She also wanted me to tell everyone thank you so much for all the birthday wishes and all of the sweet and thoughtful comments! She really appreciated them. ❤️ Happy birthday to my wife and now we’re going to see Harry Styles! 🎉🎟️

can we take a moment and praise him for always using real genuine people in his videos? and not people with a ton of plastic surgery and hollywood face? real people. it’s refreshing

I think it is related to that thing that Harry said about this song in an interview: something doesn’t need to be forever in order to be special. At the beginning, he’s dancing in a weird way, like he’s learning how to love. And then each dance partner represents a relationship. Some last longer than others, and there’s even one ending in a more tragic way, the one with the guy. At the end, everyone goes away and he stays, thinking about all that relationships he’s been through. All of them ended, but that doesn’t make them less important. I really love this song <3

Someone commented, "The idea of meeting many people to dance with for a moment but not finding the one to dance with for the rest of your life." I could not agree more

My interpretation: The dance class is a metaphor for relationships. Love is a dance we learn with other people, but we cannot control how long they stay, how well our steps align, or where the dance ultimately takes us. Love is not about performing a perfect relationship. It's about learning how to be with another person, mistakes and all. He's learning that every relationship has its own rhythm, and no single dance can teach us everything about love. The different types of dancers highlights the different experiences, and each one represents the different things he seeks from love. But if you keep changing partners, eventually you have to confront the fact that the common denominator in all those experiences is you. You can learn from other people, but you also have to understand your own patterns. The bride/wedding represents a conventional happy ending, what most people are seeking. The awkward solo dances represent the freeing choice to be single sometimes, even if it's not always well-received. He realizes now that none of these scenarios define success or solve all problems, but mature love has taught him to keep moving. He has learned so much from all his relationships, including the painfully awkward mis-matched ones, and accepts that not every dance is meant to last a lifetime. That is why things are coming up roses: not that everything turns out the way we hoped, but that even when it doesn't, something beautiful can still grow from the experience.

I need to say something.. When this song came out I was in and out of jail, addicted, and homeless. Now I have a husband, home and good job. This song and “Clover Cage - I’m Still Not Over You” are the two songs that helped me get through my depression. I just want people to know things do get better. We are in this together ❤
