FUN FACT: Olivia and Chapell are the same age that Lady Gaga and Beyoncé were when Telephone was released.

You guys don't understand how meaningful it is to have a lesbian popstar openly singing about relationships with women and only women. We've had many lesbian singers before of course but so openly and in famous pop songs?! Truly an evolution for our community Edit: since most people are replying I need to expand my music taste to know more lesbian singers, yes I know about Hayley Kiyoko, Girl in red, king princess, young miko, and many other artists being recommended. And I love them. But they're not as famous as Chappell Roan is right now, they're not doing a collab with Olivia Rodrigo who's honestly one of the biggest girl popstars right now. So yes, the fact that a lesbian singer is being allowed to be this big and is singing so openly about wlw love (the good and the bad) is a pretty big deal

I love how the song isn't saying you should stop falling in love, but that you should stop settling for just anything because you're in love. That difference completely changes how you approach a relationship.

I have no problem with the major recording industry when they’re creating something of genuine quality. This is easily the most epic mainstream music video I’ve seen in years. The production design, cinematography, costumes, and creativity are outstanding.

This is a perfect form of representation for the LGBT. Chappell Roan’s lesbian verse being side by side with Olivia Rodrigo’s straight verse is a beautiful way to call them equal without actually saying it. Nobody pauses to say “yeah, that’s right, she’s a lesbian. Look everybody, she’s a lesbian.” That kind of representation can be helpful at times, but it’s also helpful to just treat it like it’s normal, because it IS normal. And Olivia makes physical contact with Chappell several times throughout the music video because she isn’t scared of catching gay cooties

Chappel Roan was possibly the best person she could have gotten on Expectations the vibes fit her style so well

it’s nice to see women explicitly talk about liking other women. i’m not gay but i am a huge feminist and it’s so rare to see it and hear it in music. like yes it’s okay for women to not like men!

"He wasn’t smart or funny, i convinced myself he was” is painfully real because sometimes we don’t fall for who someone is, we fall for who we keep trying to convince ourselves they are.
