I’ve been through one bankruptcy. That’s it, I’m good. I did change one fundamental behavior… Divorcing the one that spent all my money.

Joe Rogan definitely right about the job you hate part. In life in general a lot of people have shitty unfulfilled lives where their bad habits is the only joy they feel where changing it just seems like a net negative.

Spending of the money isn't the problem, it's spending money you don't have.

My ex best friend from 30 years ago took out bankruptcy at 22, and I heard she did again recently. She also had 3 abortions instead of using birth control so she not exactly a responsible human.

I consolidated debt and kept one credit card. Many people with insane credit card debt told me not to. But I changed my spending habits. Now owe about $2000 on my consolidation loan and $5400 on a personal loan I took out for legal reasons. I’m so close to being fully out of debt and it feels so good. The people that said I made a stupid decision are paying $1000+ interest a month on their credit cards. I win

I find it more satisfying seeing my bank account increase monthly than buying crap

My debt experience is college. I got charged $25 overdraft for a $4.99 McDonald’s sandwich many times. The way out? I sold my Intellivision. Sold my Casio Keyboard. Sold my electric guitar. Sold my Sega Genesis and all the cartridges. Then I learned to live within my means. It was a brutal lesson where I gave up all “fun” things. But I just went through a 2 month unemployment bent while having a 10 month emergency fund in place. My failures taught me so much.

50% on needs, 30% on wants and 20% on savings is CRAZY when you're facing bankruptcy. It should be as little as humanly possible on needs and the rest on debt!

I'm the only one in my family that hasn't filed for bankruptcy. I'm also the only one who knows how to live beneath my means and I cut my CCs 20 years ago. If I can't afford it today, I certanily can't afford it tomorrow with the interest rates and fees added.

I consolidated my debt and then paid it off. I didn’t get new debt until I paid off the old debt. I still have debt but it’s lower than it was and manageable. But yes I agree if you consolidate and then just get new debt without paying off old and changing behavior it’s actually worse.

Where we are headed and have been it's like 70% on needs if not more even 10% on wants though people spend 40% and save if you can 😂

Biggest issues now, and why companies are complaining people aren't shopping anymore, is the needs have far exceeded that 50% and basically consumed any budget for wants. That last 20% is spent on wants therefore leaving no savings

In India they put your name in the newspaper if you declare bankruptcy, just to humiliate you😂😂

50% on needs is not feasible for many people. Rent, insurance, groceries and all other mandatory costs can go to 80~90% of their monthly budget. That's why life feels so empty/unfair to a lot of people. Full time work, yet no budget for fun or to invest into your future. Heck even starting a family is out of budget for a lot of people.
