You either die a Stanley Kubrick, or live long enough to become a Ridley scott

Quentin Tarantino's 10-movie limit might actually have a point...

I'm almost positive that a TV personality suddenly speaking an alien language would be seen as a stroke or drug use.

Just the fact that they go to a TV station to do a broadcast seems like an anachronism.

If "this could have been an email" was a movie.

The days when a new Spielberg movie was a must-see cultural event are decades behind us.

"Why? Because fuck you that's why" sums up all of Hollywood writing since about 2010

Back in the 19th century, there was an Italian opera singer named Giuditta Pasta. When she was in her early 50s and at the height of her popularity, she retired. When asked why, she replied that when she left the stage, she wanted to hear the audience shouting "Pasta! Pasta!" instead of "Basta! Basta!" ("Enough! Enough!")

"Sure, that may as well happen." Producer guy from pitch meetings.

Racing to a TV station to do a broadcast instead of just uploading the files online feels like something straight out of the 90's.

He said I would doubt my Catholic beliefs but instead I left doubting his directing ability.

They once said Shyamalan was the next Spielberg, but now Spielberg has become the new Shyamalan.

These old directors are surrounded by Yes-men that don't pushback against any dumb ideas.

I remember the scene when the car crashes through the window. That's when I woke up.

Emily Blunt, works at a TV studio, Goes on the run for 2 hrs, then goes back to the tv studio so what was the point of the chase scene.

This is what happens when directors far past their prime don't know when to hang it up.

you know a movie is dated when their big plan is to release stuff " On TV".. this is because they are still thinking on legacy media terms..

Man I had the displeasure of going blind into this movie and really wished I would have watched this video first. It was absolutely TERRIBLE. The entire plot was literally "OMG THERE'S ALIENS AND THE GOVT IS COVERING IT UP". Like literally that was it. There was no deeper conspiracy. No motivations for any of the characters or the aliens. No explanation or exposition as to why are they here, what are they doing, or what does their technology mean for Human Society. Literally the X-Files did this entire plot 3 decades ago, and did it 100x better because you actually cared about the characters and they made the mystery of what the goverment and aliens were actually up to and trying to do incredibly intriguing to slowly uncover over the course of many seasons. For disclosure day the answer was "LOL WHO CARES, WE HAVE A PLOT ABOUT THE GOVT HIDING ALIENS. THATS ALL UU NEED 4 GOOOD MOVIE DUHHH." Literally brain rot of an 'alien' movie. Zero intrigue. Terrible Writing. Backed up by actually decent acting, and some okay action/chase sequences, but the best acting in the world doesn't do shit if your script is trash and your characters were written by a 5-year old.

The funniest part about this whole premise is that Speilberg thinks people will be so shocked about the existence of aliens that they will all stop all activities and stare at their phones in awe and amazement, meanwhile in reality we would just be like, "Oh okay cool, anyways..."
