  I grew up 20 mins down the road from him. He graduated from Middletown high school in Ohio, which has a very high percentage of black students. I’m shocked honestly

  Years ago my new neighbor who didn’t speak English well saw me cutting roses on Mother’s Day morning (I was planning to take them to my mom). He came over & gestured for me to come. He took me to his rose bush that had much larger, beautiful blooms. He said “for mother” and I cut a bouquet. He has been next door for 20 years and I couldn’t ask for a better neighbor. We all still have a hard time with words, but we help each other and have a lovely friendship. Neighbors doesn’t speak English? Take them some food or mow their lawn. Help them pull their trash toter up from the curb. Whatever. Don’t sulk about it. Create a beautiful friendship and learn from each other. It’s not that hard to enjoy other people and other cultures.
